David Harrison composes spare still lifes with simplified shapes and pure colors.  He is concerned with the geometry of objects, the play of light on them and the interaction of positive and negative spaces.  His most obvious influences are the noted artists William Bailey and Giorgio Morandi.  They share a sense of calm and orderliness, and although they at first appear quite modern, there is a timelessness to them that keep them from being trapped by history.
