, Carl, archival digital print, edition of 100

Carl was a young boy who was visiting his grandparents during summer recess. During one of the hottest days, Carl was playing in their yard and became quite thirsty. He went inside the house and walked down to the basement refrigerator. There were all these different bottles of soft drinks inside the cold box. Many of the brands were unfamiliar to him, . . . like Moxie or Fitz. There was one with a beautiful label that had a picture of a cat. It was called Whiskers and the color of the “soda” seemed to be like a rainbow. He opened the bottle and drank it down. His body shook as if he were operating a jackhammer. There was a flash of light, and he was turned into a cat.
